It has been raining in South Dakota. It might even snow, but won't stick, but it is in the 30's and cold. But the rain brings back some pretty great memories from my first couple of years in Oklahoma at junior college.
I did not have a car and had a tendency to jump at the opportunity to leave the dorm room when ever possible. Kristin had "Mighty Whitey" a Pontiac Grand AM (Kristin if I am wrong, sorry!!) and the floor board always leaked when it rained. Well one Sunday afternoon we made the attempt in the pre-rain conditions to go to Taco Bell in a gas station about 15 miles away!
I remember the booths we sat in at the truck stop had individual pay phones, we didn't call anyone and I am sure talked about boys, classes and the judging team and who would hook up with who next! Needless to say it was lots of laughs and smiles. What happened next is the best.
So as we return back, decided to take the back way and enjoy the eastern Oklahoma rural roads and the sky opened and it dumps inches of rain on us. Mighty Whitey's windshield wipers were in full speed and not even giving a window of clear views for Kristen and at this point we each have puddles of water are feet are in. We end up pulling off the side of the road and wait it out. We listened to some great music and chatted til Mother Nature was done.
Since I am remembering great memories of college and my best friend, I received a hand soap for Easter and the scent was Kristen's favorite back in the college days, cucumber melon. So, now each time I was my hands in the kitchen it brings back some great memories of the two of us at Connors.
We used to stay up late watching TV and there was a terrible commercial about phone dating and the main line of the commercial was "Pick up the phone." You could hear Kristen and I giggling forever and mimicking the line over and over late into the night.
These are just a few of the thousands of memories I have from Connors with Kristen. (Remember Kristen!)
Great memories last a life time.

I had forgotten all about that day in the rain! I had not forgotten, however, about the infamous "Flooding Mighty Whitey"
And I had not forgotten, or maybe it's better said, can't forget the "pick up the phone" commercial. It is an awesome memory, among MANY!
I love ya and miss you like crazy! This is fabulous to catch up with your day to day life this way!
