Today

It is Saturday morning and I was rewarded with getting to sleep in- you know for all the middle of the night feedings or hall checks where I check to make sure both are sleeping, covered up and ok. I got to sleep in for all the laundry I folded and put away, rooms I vacuumed, trips to preschool and back, trips to the grocery store, Target, dry cleaners. I got to sleep in for being sick and taking care of the kids with a stomach bug and major headache the size of Texas.

I feel refreshed, have had a bowl of cereal and drinking some coffee and can hear Luke headed from the family room to the living room to see me.

Plans for today- deep clean the kitchen, some laundry, make a dip for a Super Bowl party tomorrow night, watch the movie we got from Netflix last week, and watch a friend of our's little girl while the tour a hospital in anticipation of their son's arrival!!!!

Tomorrow is Kyle's morning to sleep in, however, it is cut short by church - this is why I always choose Saturdays! Enjoy the day!

Week 4- My Eskimo Joe's Kids

I staged my own photo shoot this week with Ella and Luke in their Eskimo Joe shirts. For all my Stillwater buddies and Oklahoma friends and family- these are for you!!!

It is week four with Mr. Luke and tomorrow he will be a month old! He is doing well, we have introduced the swing (which he is enjoying as I blog) and has been sleeping for up to 4.5 hours during the night, which for Mom and Dad is great. I have successful gotten both Luke and Ella down for naps at the same time. We hosted a play date this week at the house and all the kids loved Luke- he has a group of girls that love to love on him- lucky guy.

His naps are getting into a pattern that we all can live with, though both Kyle and I try and take naps when we can. I had a set back with a case of mastitis this week, so it has been a painful process to go through, but I am making it! I have to take antibiotics for 10 days, every 6 hours!

Luke can lift up his head for several seconds and look around, he is beginning to smile at us on occasion and loves his tummy time. He has graduated from a size newborn diaper to a 1, yeah for Luke and the 3 month clothes are beginning to fit him. He is a long dude, so the 0-3 month stuff is getting a little tight in the length department.

Oh and he stayed asleep while I vacuumed the other day. I had him on our bed and was vacuuming the living room and bedrooms and it did not phase him at all, AWESOME. Considering with Ella I had to put her in her crib, turn on a soft music, give her a pacifier and shut the door, and could still hear her cries over the machine. And she was the same age! I have been told to keep up the vacuuming so he remembers and doesn't freak out later. Now me finding time to clean is a whole other post!!!!

Day 9 and counting

Hard to believe that Luke is nine days old. We made our first big outing today to Lowe's for a ceiling fan and then went for lunch at Qdoba- Yum.
Luke is sleeping in four hours time slots and is only up about twice in a night, which has been nice for Mom and Dad. He goes to bed about 9 then wakes to eat around 11 or 12 and then is up again around 3 or 4. He is super quiet, barely stirs in the night and give us small signals he is wet or hunger- so overall it has been really nice. He is a quiet sleeper, unlike his noisy sister!!!

I am down to two pain pills and then on to the regular stuff, so I am saving them for the evenings, it is amazing how much you use your stomach muscles, so i am having to learn not to jump up right away in the middle of the night, but take it slow.

Luke is sleeping on the couch next to me right now as the golf game is on, and I should be napping too, but thought I should post what has been going on.

Ella is with friends at a town parade and then on the farm for lunch and tractor rides.

We had some friends stop by today and we got a diaper cake decorated with John Deere and Dekalb items. It is great.

So that is us. We are just hanging out and enjoying the day- though there is a lot of rain and it is fairly humid.

Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there!!

Rain

It is raining today, something the majority of the farmers around here are grateful for! Kyle has been hoping for rain all week and last night it started and has continued throughout this morning.

Last night we went to dinner and a movie. We went to Outback Steakhouse and then to see the Tom Hanks' "Angels and Demons" movie. Both were very good and to top off the evening, we stopped at ColdStone Creamery and had some delicious ice cream. I love that stuff.

With the rain everyone slept in this morning, which was nice, seeing this is our last weekend to enjoy being lazy for a while. We have a high school graduation party this afternoon and I have a couple of projects to work on too.

I can do this, right?

I have been the sole parent in the house since Friday. Not bad, got a quick break last night when Kyle came home around 8 and then left at 4 AM this morning. Poor Ella heard the garage door and started calling out for me. I went in and got her and she slept with me, she asked where Daddy was as she drifted back to sleep. She slept til after 7 and watch cartoons in bed while I finished getting ready.
To re-wind, our weekend was a lot of fun and went by amazingly fast.
Saturday we rose and hung out in our jammies for a while, then braved the outdoors and went to Target on a mission for Kolby and Kaliegh's Christmas gifts (nieces). They are getting a Easy Bake oven and I can still remember playing with the one Katina and I had growing up. The power of a light bulb to make culinary delights! I love it. After Target, which I might ad, reminded me of the day after Thanksgiving, Ella and I went to PetsMart and checked out all the animals. I had never been in before, but they have loads of fish, birds, reptiles, and kittens for adoption ( I resisted). We had a a lot of fun and got Aunt Kena's kiddos (three dogs) some Christmas gifts/treat. Then we headed for some lunch, went to Ruby Tuesdays. I ordered Ella chicken strips and myself the salad bar. Well Ella ate almost all my salad toppings from broccoli to cucumber and carrots, demanding more and I ended up with the chicken strips. I laughed at the site.
Next we went to the movies, we did ok, didn't make it through the whole meeting, but overall loved the popcorn and candy. She feel asleep on the way home and took a long nap, so I did the same on the couch.

Sunday we went to Sunday school and church, picked up lunch on the way home, did laundry, cleaned house, made a nice dinner and awaited Kyle's return. Ella and Kyle played did bed time and I got caught up on some work.

This week looks pretty good- art night at a friend's tonight, haircut and possible get together tomorrow, Wednesday night play night for Ella and get together with Bo, Thursday is MOPS set up and Kyle home, Friday is MOPS and work. Not bad. Maybe some Christmas shopping throughout the week during lunch if I have time.

Ok, I can do this, but I just wish Kyle was home, I might just miss him a little, and Ella too.
