Top of Mind

I will start with this and then post about the long weekend.

We have acquired a very nice house cat that wants in! This poor cat has been missing its home for the past three days. The neighbors a block away walked around door to door asking us if we were missing a house cat, I replied no along with apparently the whole neighborhood. Well, the poor thing has been at our house the last day, and last night spent the night in the garage! Maybe it was helpful and killed the wildlife one step away from the promise land of our home. Anyway, Ella was thrilled to see the cat this morning and it walked in the house like it was home. Insert Kyle not happy.

So I found some ham and guided the cat outside, Ella went back the the Disney Einsteins and I proceeded to get pissed the whole way into work.

Being raised in the country we had plenty of cats, I can even remember Dad purchasing grain and feed for the cattle and sheep and picking up a 10 pound bag of cat food for the little ones. Why could these neighbors not of thoughts of taking the cat to the shelter. It makes me mad, that have enough strength to go around the neighborhood to ask all of us if we are missing a cat, but cannot pick up the phone and find a shelter.

So guess what I did this morning, called a local shelter and am waiting for a return call. I would like to go over to that neighbors house and give her what for! But will withhold my temper acting before my mind and focus on helping the cat. Unlike my neighbor.

The other solution would be to keep the cat, but I am thinking that is out. If the shelter does not call back before the end of day I know our neighbors have cats and will see if they will lend us some food, (I can't imagine deli ham is good for cats) and feed it until I can get ahold of the shelter.
