Hearing the bell

With the holiday season in full swing, it is not uncommon for many of us to hear the ringing of The Salvation Army bell. I cannot pass a bell ringer without digging into my purse for a offering. I can remember in college at OSU having the opportunity to be a bell ringer and how rewarding it was, cold yes, but truly a great experience.

We all give in many ways, some are more silent than the giving of the red bucket, but I believe a bell rings for all of us.

Here is some details from The Salvation Army on their Christmas Charity

The "miracle" of Christmas is repeated over and over again through the joy of caring and sharing. The traditional red kettle is an integral part of the Christmas scene, with millions of dollars donated each year to aid needy families, seniors, and the homeless, in keeping with the spirit of the season.

Donations provide Christmas dinners, clothing, and toys for families in need. Financial assistance also helps with basic necessities, along with seasonal aid. Families of prisoners often are included.

Merry Christmas friends. And I promise to fill you in on what is going on in our household soon. I am more than a week behind.

TO add to this story, Ella and I went to Wal-Mart this weekend and I had a dollar in change. And guess what, we dropped all the quarters in the freeing cold right in front of the red bucket, made for a nice side show for those in the parking lot. But we accomplished our goal, and Ella thought it was fun!
